Our Story

Farm & Flora is a family farm centered around small agriculture and big sustainability. We specialize in growing heirloom flowers and vegetables using organic practices, while raising grass fed Scottish Highland cattle on our tiny plot in Northern Illinois.

In 2017, Kari & Brad decided to take the leap and follow a big dream. They wanted to live outside the day to day routine they had become accustomed to and accept new challenges outside of their full time careers. With two kids in tow and one on the way, F&F laid roots and began to plant the seeds that would follow. Like most, they found themselves overwhelmed with new challenges and asking how they were ever going to do this. While most thought they were out of their minds, they began to lean on the support of their friends, family and community. They knew they loved this way of life, but they had to figure out how to make it work. They began to look at how to build the farm from the foundation and that began with its values.

Our Values

We were tired of wasting so much so freely. We believe there is a way to live a practical, sustainable life and we are continuing to work towards that goal. We believe a common love for the outdoors exists and we agree it’s tough, but you have to make time to enjoy it. We believe in community, especially in a day where personal connection has been replaced by technology. Our goal is to provide exceptional, local, organically grown product and create a connection with our customers. We hope to one day serve as an inspiration to others who had an idea but may have been afraid to try it out. This is our chance to be authentic, not like anyone else, but a version of ourselves. Attempting a richer, fuller way of life.

Here’s to every new season,

Kari & Brad
